that's all well and good, but like i said, no point in buying 1 7850 and crossfiring if you can just spring for a better card right at the start

You may, but a 280x would be cheaper and faster. Also, next gen games are gonna need lots of VRAM and 2GB isn't gonna cut it anymore. Note: Memory isn't doubled in Crossfire.

Also Crossfire is chock full of issues with frame pacing and utilization so a single card is always preferred.

Own a single 7850 myself, while it is a great card, it is reaching the end of its lifespan.

see i was thinking the 7870 2gb tbf and i thort it would run the same s a 4gb in crossfire?
tbf i was hoping on goign radeon i have a geforce 660ti atm but its lack of power to cope under a heavy demand it quite poor and crashes alot

whay elce would be good to run in crossfire im looking around 100 a card tbf

why still go for crossfire? everybody will back this up: one good card is better than 2 average cards in crossfire. if you can afford it, go for 280x, if not, if 200 is your absolute limit i say go for 2 7870ghz cards in crossfire, this being the exception to the crossfire rule because they are just as powerful as a 270x but half the price.
