I am looking at building a PC soon and have decided to wait to see what the Z97 range can offer. One feature that I am interested in is having 2 Internal USB3 Headers (one for case and one for card reader) but can't seem to find many in my price range.

I had originally liked the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4518#ov) but Gigabyte doesn't seem to believe in 2 Headers anymore!

I have found the ASRock Z97 Extreme6 and the MSI Z97-G55 SLI
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z97%20Extreme6/
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z97G55_SLI.html#specification

Does anyone have any information on ASRock vs MSI and which one to choose or know any other boards in this price range?

Thanks for any help!

I run a asrock exe6 z87 and so far so good but the thing with the msi boards was the quailcom lan that just don't appeal to me.. I rather stick with a realtek or intel.. one thing I did notice with the z97 asrock was there duel lan set up was strange were mine is 2 intel with teaming the z97 is intel and a realtec now how that works together with out driver conflict I don't know you will have to read up on that setup..

Thanks for your feedback. I had seen the dual ports but didn't think much of it other than it was interesting. Yeah I am not keen on the non black pcb of the MSI and do think that the ASRock in general looks nicer but it is that little bit more expensive.

I have heard not such great things about both of those companies though so am still unsure about going for either.

I realy never got that thing with the pcb color to me big deal what counts is does the board have what you want and need ?? and be well supported? is it solid or loaded with unnecessary gimmicks and hype? I've used most brands and they all had good and bad [luckily mostly good] to me nowadays what ever parts you buy you just hope they will work well out of the box and you did not get a bad apple reguardless witch brand you choose.. this go round I went with this asrock gigabyte was my 1st choise and this was 2ed , the gigabyte went up in price and this went on sale .. it was a toss up and asrock won out this time .. put it together loaded windows and ran stable right from the get go... that's all I can ask of one to do .. I kinda know what I want and need in a board and I'm not any brand fanboy . I just look at who has what I want and need for my price range and hope I did not get the lemon.

I have been looking at Asus, Gigabyte, ASRock and MSI now for motherboards and these seem to be the only ones at the lower price range that have the 2 internal headers that I need. The colour isn't a deal breaker at all, it is just for me the ASRock looks nicer so if it was purely on looks then I would go for that one out of the two. I was just dubious because I have heard good and bad things about both companies and although I know you can have good or bad luck with any manufacturer for any product, some companies are just more hassle than it's worth which was what I was trying to find out. I guess I am not really going to find that answer though as there are plenty of people who would be able to give examples of both bad and good for everything.

well that's the thing its all a roll of the dice I look at it as if its junk its in the garb.. I don't do returns or rma's like with asus they don't make any of my to buy lists my last 3 from them were more hype than quality and look at them now they got nothing I want last good asus board for me was a socket 939 .. but that's just me.. I got a MSI socket A board that fires up and runs still to this day with a thunderbird chip now that's good service.. my favored board was my old gigabyte 590sli got zapped by lighting . I now got 2 asrock boards z87 and a am2 , and so far so good only time will tell on them. I don't know what else to say but you got to decide on what you fell is right for you. look past the hype
