I'm hoping to print wirelessly from a Dell printer with an iPhone. The app I've downloaded is asking for an IP address for the printer which is currently wired to a Windows computer via a USB port. I can't find the address in Start/Control panel/ (right click) properties/Ports. Can anyone help me?

Specs are:-
iPhone: 5s
Computer: Acer Aspire 5315 Laptop
Software: Windows Vista Basic
Printer: Dell Energy Star V105

you can find the IP to the PC that it is connected to but not the Printer. access the client list in the Router settings and this will give the IP to the PC. teh printer does not have its own IP because it is not connected to the router on its own, it has a port number of the PC it is connected to. It is done through the PC.

word of caution for this though. If you plan on doing this often I suggest that you set the PC with the printer on a static IP/static lease. This way the IP will never change or you will have to do this over and over again.

The printer will have to be shared by the PC and it may require that you install drivers for the MAC OS that the iPhone supports.
Find the IP of the machine by opening a Command Prompt and typing IPCONFIG.

Then you can access it by using \\<ip of PC>\<Name of Share>. Example: \\192.168.1.2\Printer
