Hi all, was thinking of purchasing a R 295 x2 , ok my current gpu runs everything fine but was wondering if the R 295 would make much of a difference fps wise or is it just overkill at 1080 p. should I keep my 7990 ?. thoughts please :}

Stick with the HD 7990, if you're gaming in the resolution bigger than 1080p then get the R9 295 x2. The HD 7990 is already overkill for 1080p.

First of all, double gpu cards are a big waste of money. Except for the 295X2. The 295X2 has a higher clock speed than two 290Xs so i can vouch for that. But to answer your question, yes, yes it is, if you have the money.

It will definitely be faster of course, it's the next generation high end dual GPU at double the cost of the 7990.

As a single R9-280 is more than enough for 1080p, it would be a ridiculous overkill, particularly if your monitor is 60fps.

Dual GPU cards are generally only good at saving space or a PCIe slot.

well the r9-295x2 is a much better card... if only because xfire actually works on it.

It has a higher clock speed than two 290Xs in crossfire. Which is a first in dual gpu GPUs
