Asus U46E
Intel (R) HD Graphics 3000
8 GB RAM

I recently got my laptop back from the manufacturer after sending it off twice. I had a water spill, so they changed my motherboard and my keyboard. Ever since i got it back, i noticed my laptop has been going at a slower pace during games. Whenever i play Diablo 3, my FPS is at a constant 30 when i'm at a stand still. When i try to move or attack, my FPS will drop to as low as 3. If i buy a SSD or update the graphic cards, will that increase my FPS? Any ideas on what i should do with my laptop?

Hey,

is that an Ultrabook? Not many upgrade options there. All you could do is maybe add some RAM or an SSD but this isn't going to improve your gaming experience at all. (You have enough RAM as it is and an SSD will only improve loading speeds to be honest)

Are you sure your games were working well before you had it repaired? HD 3000 is far from being a gaming GPU. It's integrated GPU more suited for office applications and web browsing.

All you can do is to make sure you've got all drivers installed. I think this is the link to the Downloads section for your Ultrabook. http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/U46E/HelpDesk_Download/

I have tried reinstalling it, and it's still the same. I tried tweaking the game a bit and it sorta made it worse. So overall i was wondering if it was the laptop or something.

Take a look at this section of the tweaking guide and go through the points 1 by 1 to make sure you don't skip something. Especially check if your notebook is set to Max Performance in the Power Management.

Anti-aliasing- Transparency
This setting can have a massive effect on FPS. Unless you have a powerful video card , turn this setting off .

Maximum per-rendered frames
A great setting for low end cards that allows the GPU to have have a smoother image when the FPS is low. Set value to "2" . Lower to zero if you experience any mouse lag.

Multidisplay/ Mixed GPU acceleration
Unless you have a dual monitor setup , Set to "Single Display Performance Mode"

Power management mode
This setting can be detrimental for laptop users. Always make sure it's set "Max Performance" to make sure the GPU is working to it's fullest potential.

Texture Filtering Quality
This setting dictates how the GPU will process textures. Set to "Max performance" if you have a low end GPU , "Quality" for high end GPUs
