I am playing Everquest Next Landmark and my GTX760 from the factory is being bottlenecking itself with its 256bit memory. At least thats what I see from running afterburner and gpuz. I upped the voltage, coreclock speed and memory speed and GPUz is giving me reason for perf cap, voltage and overal power. Afterburner is showing 85-90% gpu usage with 100% spikes while running this game on Ultra. Hovers around 80-85% on High. Average 40FPS 1228 x 684. I play on a 58in TV so I have to lower the resolution so I can actually read text and see whats going on. I sit about 7ft away. I may end up running 1920x1080 on a monitor soon.

When this game is released, I would like to be able to run on ULTRA with no frame loss. I am running asus crosshair V formula Z and AMD 8350 oc 4.4mhz and 800w psu

I want to step up to a 512bit card or more. At what point should I stop spending money on a graphics card? I dont want to spend money on card that will be bottlenecked by the rest of my system. What should I buy? I would prefer to stay with Nvidia

Money isnt really an object. If I cant afford the card now, I will save to get it.

Solution
What could be slowing me down if its not gpu intensive? Playing now with GPU at 55% and FPS at 15-40. Tasbar shows me using ~6 gigs of ram, which was modified by AI suit II to run at lower speed for smaller latency numbers, and ~25% pc. Running 2, 8 gig sticks of Corsair.

I really want to know, I just want it to run smoot O.O

Landmark is just out of Alpha and pre Beta so it wouldnt surprise me I guess

Thank you for the quick response :)

This is still a little beyond my understanding of how things work. From what I understand, PCIe 2.0 has not seen its full potential yet. At what point will that be the limiting factor and is it something I should be concerned about right now?

What relation does the PCIe 2.0 hold with the bit rating on a graphics card?

what makes you think that 256bit is a limiting factor? my GTX 770 uses 256bit however it outperforms the gtx 760 by far, the GTX 780ti uses 384bit yet outperforms the R9 290X by a slight margin despite R9 290X has 512bit. The bit rate isn't a limiting factor. I'd suggest you save money and get a GTX 770 or 780. PCIE is the rate of data transfer. the bit rate is almost insignificant to this has none of them have been able to fully max out PCIE 2.0. So bit rate is not your limiting factor here

From reading GPUz, GPU memory clock was the first thing to hit the top of the chart. Thats why I think its the memory bandwith that is capping my performance. GPU core clock readings are a very close 2nd.

Landmark isnt very action packed but there is a lot to render. Again, I am at my limit of understanding things here, thats why I came to this forum to ask you guys questions.

You can try OCing your memory clock but your bitrate is not at fault so please clear this from your thoughts. the GTX 760s memory clock isn't the best not to mention it doesn't have that many shaders. Shaders and memory clock share relations as to the pixel fillrate, more shaders means a higher pixel fillrate the higher the memory clock then the faster these shaders are at increase the pixel fillrate. This is why the gtx 770 is faster than the GTX 760, it has more shaders and a higher core clock and memory clock

Okay then, cleared xD

I have overclocked my 760, it is stable but I dont feel comfortable pushing it any further. 70c.

Memory default 1502 - current 1595
Core default 1006 - current 1123
boost default 1072 - current 1189
power limit 105% +12mv

Well then, is it worth putting out the extra pennies for a 780 or should I just grab another 760 for SLI?

now run heaven Benchmark. The load spikes could be normal because everquest may not be a fully gpu-intensive game. Much like my card on battlefield 3 it usually runs at 60% but sometimes goes to 80% depending on the situation

Here are my results. The only thing I changed on Heave was quality, I put it on Ultra.

Average 60.6 FPS
score 1526
Min FPS 26
Max FPS 130.5
1842x1026 resolution
Ultra

Landmark runs as low as 10fps sometimes and is occasionally stuttering/crashing. I did notice a few black lines going from the top of my screen to the bottom during the benchmark.

blacklines? that is odd. Landmark may be poorly optimised that's all. the black lines is a bit odd though
