well, i have no idea what to call this, when i launch Doom 3, sometimes it will perform normally, 1 out of 10 times it ran perfectly fine no issues.
When it does act up, the GPU becomes corrupted and i have to restart the PC, i have seen this happen with failing graphics cards, but it happens on ALL games, not just one. Leading me to suspect a corruption to the driver.
What happens is the video output no longer is stable, the picture is as if it were shredded and flickers all over the place in fine horizontal lines, and the picture doesn't stay in its proper alignment to the monitor. I never had this problem with a Radeon HD 5670, OR my Radeon HD 6950. I currently have two Radeon HD 7850's in crossfire.
At first i thought this was an issue with programs clashing for control, but after ruling that out by running the game without the program in question in the background, and still having the problem, i am led to believe that Doom 3 is incompatible with my hardware, have not tried without CrossfireX enabled yet... will post later on the results.
Running Steam version of Doom 3 with ROE expansion.
My system is:
AMD FX-8320 OC 4.2Ghz
AMD Radeon Memory G-Series DDR3-2133 16GB
ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z
HIS Radeon HD 7850 IceQ X Turbo 2GB (x2 CrossfireX)
7 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm HDD (no RAID setup)
Corsair AX1200i 1200Watt power supply.
I thought i was more than capable to run Doom 3, i can run the pirated version of Doom 3 just fine, and since i wanted to play online with the LMS mod i purchased the game, now i get this mess and it starts in Doom 3, but doesn't stop there, after quitting doom 3 the artifacting is still there. it honestly looks like a strobe light, i can disable the GPU and i get the terrible low res standard windows adapter driver enabled, but as soon as i re-enable the card the artifacting is back, trying to make me have epileptic seizures.
i can't describe it, i will look for a picture or video to post onto this if i find one that shows what is going on.
