System upgrades worthwhile?

Currently setup...

  • ASUS m4a77td MoBo.
AMD Athlon x3 450 Rana OC'ed at 3.5 air cooled.
    2 x 4 gigs PNY 1333 and 2x2 gigs G.skill 1333.
    Seagate 1TB and Seagate 500GB HDD's
    ASUS GTS 450 1 gig 192 bit
Generic 460 watt PSU but verrified at 450 watts (amazing and has lasted for 4 years)

I currently upgraded the Ram hence why its running two different types (I was going to remove the 4 gigs of G.skill but it all worked together and was blazing fast compared to previously.).

I am really not sure what a decent upgrade for performance would be (CPU wise) as I really dont play any game that can crush my GTS 450 (LoL, Heroes of the Storm, Smite) right now (though The Division has caught my eye). I currently stream easily with my current Rana 450 core so is it worth it to upgrade to an FX core or should I just keep using the Rana core until it dies?

I really just want a better PC and I'm having a hard time justifying it because it runs so smoothly and efficiently.

I have tried unlocking the 4th core it does not run stable period even with voltages turned up a bit.

Is there an AMD CPU that would be a major upgrade in the FX series?

I'm probably going to end up with dual r9 270x's eventually to play at a ridiculous resolution.

Any suggestions on upgrades?

Apologies, I figured that was implied. Yes I am aware the MoBo needs to be replaced.

Maybe I can make this simpler...

I am looking for a more powerful CPU because the R9 270x's will be severly bottlenecked by the current X3 Rana core I have.

My budget and needs tell me get an AMD, I am not completely adverse to an Intel I5 (and a new Mobo) because it is still within budget as long as I go with a non K series.
