I want the gtx 780 for my first kick-ass pc. But there are so many versions from so many companies. What version should I get? Btw if this helps, I'm not looking to over clock.

Asus is a good brand but it will not run as fast out of the box, so if you're not willing to OC yourself you might as well pay a few $ more for one thats already OCed. My 780 GHz from gigabyte ran at 1163mhz out of the box, while some 780s couldnt reach that ever. Its really up to you, I would just suggested the top tiered cards if you dont plan to play around with the OC yourself as they are best out of the box.

asus, gigabyte or evga are the brands you are looking for, even without OC. if you want cost effective pick the cheaper one from you available choices, but as a rule of thumb, its best to get a good GPU brand. Take Evga superclocked ACX 780 as example. Its very OC-able which means that it has good temperatures, so even with no OC it will live longer.
again : Evga, Asus, Gigabyte ( in any order ) are some of the best choices, check some prices, pick one and happy gaming
