Hey guys, I'm planning to get a new monitor for my new rig.

Intel i5 4670k OC'd to 4.4Ghz
Asus GTX 770
8GB RAM
1TB
Z97X-G7 Motherboard

I'm using a 20' HP monitor right now.

The highest resolution is 1600x900.
Since the GTX 770 can surpass this monitor I might buy a new one and use dual monitors.

Which monitor around 100-200 should i get?

I've had an ASUS VH236H monitor for about 2 years with no problems. Bright, inexpensive, good color, works well for gaming. I believe this model has been superseded by newer models with IPS panels etc. but a good choice for the $100-$200 range. Yes, I use a 4650K and an EVGA GTX770.

What is a similar item to ASUS VE278Q but cheaper?

Look at 24" monitors, they are generally less expensive than 27" monitors.

Does the refresh rate matter?

No, not in any practical sense. 1ms=1,000FPS therefore 4ms refresh=250FPS and so on. I have a 60Hz , 2ms refresh rate monitor and show above 60FPS most of the time with Vsync off.
