Hello,
I can't make up my mind, especially when taking costs into account. Maybe you could help?

I'm not a "heavy" IT enthuasiast (I'm not spending much money on my tech), but I have an old office PC, which I'll be using for familly needs (MS Office, internet, some movies, but also home video editing, including 1080p AVCHD, and little, but some games, like DIRT3 or Total War). I'm planning on using this PC for a year (min) or two (max), after that upgrading to a totally new system (but some parts, like VGA and (if) SSD could be transfered to the new system).
Until today I've upgraded PSU, CPU, RAM and VGA and now thinking of SSD.

My current system:
Foxconn G31MX-K (LGA775), not sure of AHCI support, but in BIOS I have IDE/Advanced/SATA
Core 2 Quad Q9400
4GB DDR2 800Mhz (max of my MB)
HIS IceQ Radeon 7850 2GB
Nexus NX-8060 PSU
Samsung 80Gb (Win 8.1 Pro + progs) and Samsung 500Gb (for files) 7200 HDDs + 1TB WD external (via eSata)

As my RAM is very limited and my MB supports only SataII, is it worth upgrading to SSD? I count every cent, but my main concern is video editing (cuting, merging, some text and little effects) and I guess SSD would help here a lot (especially the ones with higher write speed).

If it's worth the upgrade, in my country SSD choices are:
Transcend SSD340 256GB - 104 Eur (best price per GB, but quite bad reviews)
Kingston 240GB V300 - 104 Eur (good reviews)
Crucial M500 240GB - 101 Eur (very good reviews - best deal for the money?)
A-Data Premier Pro SP900 256GB - 112 Eur
Sadly, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB costs 132 Eur (that is +30%! per GB when comparing to Transcend)

Or to wait for Crucial MX100 (16nm) 256GB - for ~95 Eur?

Or should I look for a used SSD? I saw some adverts with Samsung 840 Evo 250 GB for ~86Eur.

I have a C2Q q6700 2.66ghz with 4gb of ram and I just updated my hd to a 120gb samsung 840 evo ssd (80$us)... windows boots/restarts/shutsdown A LOT faster.. boots up in 19 secs.. I dont know what else its going to improve yet as I just got it yesterday..but im liking so far..

For ~100 Eur I could get a 3TB Baracuda or Toshiba, and with a big video-audio collection (and good internet speeds) there's never too much free space :)

However, is it really not a big difference in sequential write speeds? All the reviews I find on google, SSDs have at least 2X faster write speeds...

No other opinions?
Because I've read somewhere that upgrade to SSD is very felt if system is older and lacking RAM. For brand new quick systems (like i5-i7 with lots of RAM) the upgrade is felt only in booting time and loading apps..
if that's true, then I should try a SSD.. A Crucial M500? or a new (but without warranty) Sam EVO for 15% less..

For boot up and starting programs you'll see a huge boost. Maybe just not when actually working with the video files. I have 5 ssds myself, but the computer I work on the most only has a tiny 24gb caching drive(one of the old intel slc sata 2 drives), and I still get 95% of the day to day benefit out of it.
