Hi, I recently upgraded from Windows XP sp3 (I think it was SP3) to Windows 7 Ultimate for my computer from Pirate Bay (illegal but it's better than paying) everything is fine with the OS it is activated and all! However, I noticed that my sound and graphics card drivers were not installed. So of course, I opened Windows Update and it found my sound and graphics card driver ready to install; I am able to have sound but when my graphics card driver is installed it says it needs to restart the computer. After my computer then starts up, I am give a black screen to 'Start Windows Normally' (which does nothing but reset my computer) and 'Launch Startup Repair' so when I do startup repair and am able to get back on in normal mode. It completely restores my computer to have it without updates! As I am typing this all my updates have been uninstalled (including my sound and graphics card driver!) it always ends up going 'There has been hardware changes/ software changes' and it's getting me very fustrated as all I want to do is download my sound and graphics card driver to get on with playing on my computer.

Can anyone please tell me how to download them without this 'Startup Repair' appearing and causing it to uninstall all the previous updates I installed? Thanks

My system specs:

HP Workstation xw6200
Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit)
Intel(R) Xeon (TM) CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs), -2.8GHz
250GB, 4096 RAM

My Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 5450

(Could my system specs not be compatible with windows 7?)

Generic drivers are drivers that can be globally assigned to more than one model component, try downloading the graphics driver from ATI's website as it will be an original. Just download the right one for your model graphics card. The audio driver you can just download through 3DP. The startup repair should not be a problem after installing those drivers. If it still appears you might have to install another copy of windows 7.

Go to: "http://www.3dpchip.com/3dpchip/3dp/chip_down_en.php" and download "3dp chip". Extract and install the software. It will show you your components and you can download the drivers from there. The cause of the problem is most likely the generic drivers you got from windows update.

What are these generic drivers from windows update? I currently have no updates since the last startup repair... Do you have any idea as to why my computer doesn't like my graphics card driver? Since after I click restart to finalise the installation it ends up going back to startup repair everytime.
