BIOS Update Problem

Hi,

I've got two problems:-
My PC is taking a long time to boot past the BIOS screen. Once into Windows it is fine. Whenever I leave my PC on 'sleep' I have to restart it and so fourth...I have a ASUS M4A77TD and running Windows 7, which I reinstalled the other day as I thought that may have been the cause.

Problem 2 - Which could be the cure:-

I read up on it and I am under the impression that it may be as a result of my Motherboard/BIOS being 'out of date', and therefore need to update it, using the utility on the ASUS website. I have downloaded the Windows 7 64 bit version, as per my OS, and it produces an error whereby it says it isn't "compatible".

Can you suggest a potential cure to the above two? Any help, most appreciated. I have also tried re connecting the SATA cables of my 1tb HDD, but to no avail. I've virtually explored the potential causes which have been highlighted in other threads....

Thanks!

with bios files dont flash them from the os. unzip the file with asus there bios files are .rom or .cap. copy the .rom file to a usb stick and plug the stick into your usb 2.0 port and reboot and go into the bios. in the bios is a cmos update tab. click on it and search for the bios file.

Can you suggest an alternative way, because when I download the 'Update Utility tool' it is a programme rather than a flash file. When I boot from the USB into the Flash section of the BIOS, it won't work. Please can someone suggest a cure for the issue I have whereby the BIOS takes a long time to boot, please.
