Hi,

I am looking to upgrade my PC and I need some advice on what components to buy.

I don't really use if for gaming, it's more of a home / development machine. I need to run a lot of Virtual Machines on it, so I need a decent amount of RAM.

Here is what I have so far.

MB: ASUS Z87-K, or Gigabyte-Z97X-UD5H
(If possible I would like something with two NIC,s, TPM, M.2 and Sata Express)

CPU: i5 4670K

COOLER: Artic Freezer 7 Pro 2

SSD: Corsair 128GB Force Series GS SSD
(I would like something around 120GB with very good read and write performance)

RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133Mhz CAS 11-11-11-27 1.5V
(I am mainly a Corsair RAM person, but I would be open to other suggestions, because Corsair are not cheap)

Thanks

Thanks I like your solution. The motherboard is a good find, but it's about the same price at the UD5H, and the UD5H has better reviews.

I'm not too sure about the RAM? Probably because I know nothing about them as a company.

A lot of people are talking about that SSD, but it's not as fast as the Corsairs and is only about £10 cheaper to buy.

I am based in England, and there is not a lot of difference between the prices, and I want to be able to return any defective items with ease.

Thanks

ASRock too makes good motherboards, G.Skill is one of the best RAM manufacturers and they are reliable too.
And SSD Samsung 840 EVO is one of the best SSD on the market but if you dislike 3-Year warranty you can get Intel 530 SSD with 5-Year warranty.

I can't get hold of G.Skill RAM in England.

And what's on Amazon is overpriced.

The Corsairs are 2133 @ 11CAS.

How much difference would I notice here?

I'm not going to be OC'ing the RAM and it's going to be used for Virtual Machines.

Thanks

If price is an issue then I would recommend you 1866MHz CL9 RAM from Corsair

Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£239.58 @ CCL Computers)

Don't know if the price is too high but it should perform equal to 2133MHz because there is not so big difference in real world usage. :)

CCL Computers are selling the 2133Mhz CL11 at the same price.

Someone said that a higher speed will even the CL out.

So maybe they are about the same. Hence why they are the same price.

How much is there in it? I have seen 2133Mhz at 10 and 9. The price difference is around £30 - £40.

Would I be blown away by a lower setting? Or should I just save the money.

Thanks
