Hi,

I recently updated my graphics card to the MSI GTX 780 ti and have noticed that my power supply has become more noisy than usual. The PSU that I am currently using is Corsair HX750v2 ATX

I also noticed that the PSU fans run at 100% all the time time I play Crysis 3 which is loud and very annoying. Before the PSU was silent and I was using the MSI GTX 680

Is it possible that I need a bigger power supply for my PC or is my current PSU faulty?

If I need a new power supply, can anyone recommend the most silent and coolest PSU possible for my PC case can accept PSU's up to 180mm

Below is a list the system I have.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
MOTHERBOARD: Asus Maximus V Gene
GPU: MSI GTX 780 ti
CPU: Intel i7-3770K @ 3.50GHz Ivy Bridge
CPU COOLER: Noctua NH-D14
RAM: G.Skill Trident-X 16GB Kit (8Gx2) DDR3-2400
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB SSD
HDD:WD 3.5" Black 2TB 7200rpm
PSU: Corsair HX750v2 ATX
FAN: Noctua-P12-PWM 120 Case cooler fan
CASE: Temjin TJ08-E

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nik

If the power supply is working OK, it should be more than enough for your pc. You sure the fan is at 100%?

If so, and if its new, I'd rma it.

The HX is made by Sesonic so it should be good. I'd recommend replacing it with another Seasonic made psu. You should only need 600W. Try an Antec HCG 620M or XFX 650 or Corsair - ah forget it. just those two.

It still has warrenty. I just thought it was strange as the issues started when I replaced the graphics card.
Im pretty sure its running at 100%, its the loudest thing in my PC

Double check - they have a good rep for a reason. I'm sorta feeling sad now that my world has crumbled around me. First Seasonic I've heard having problems. Let me know what happens.

Ok, will check with them

Is it possible that a fault in my new GPU could cause this excessive fan speeds? I had a few issues just when I installed it

It'd have to draw power like a battleship. It'd be overheating. Can you download and run HWInfo - Sensors and post the results (3 screens on TinyPic)?

Hmmm - looks OK, but really low clocks.

Can you show the rest? I'm just seeing if there's anything else unusual.

Nothing else I can see. Your CPU is running nice. And your Power Supply - good voltages. And 12+4GB memory at 1.5V

I dunno what AUXTIN is but its at 194C. Mine(ASRock X79) says SYSTIN and its at 33C

Let's Google!

Everything I read said to ignore AUXTIN results. You?

Also - low gpu clocks - can you try gpu-z? I did and it says my clocks are slow. Must be a wierd measure. So maybe your gpu clcoks are actually OK. And Auxtin is just a ghost reading. That means everything is OK?

So your psu is just noisy and there's no other problem it seems.

its more noisy then before, but extremely noisy on crysis 3. I'll send you the gpu-z results shortly

So I've just tried Crysis 3 out again, as I was having the problem last night, the fans are spining at full speed, at there is a rattling noise also coming from the psu

No problem, I'll check with the warrenty.

My main issue was to see if i needed a higher PSU or if it was faulty

Thanks for your help

FYI Corsair HX750v2 is made by CWT and not Seasonic

Hi
Ive just noticed something. When using MSI Afterburner, I've noticed that the power limit is set to 100%. If I lower it down to 50-60%, I notice the PSU fan slow down during Crysis 3. Is it safe to use a lower setting or would it be better if I leave it at 100?
I dont know much about overclocking etc

That must be the GPU fan and not the PSU fan. Are you sure its the PSU fan making noise or the GPU fan?
Which MSI GTX 780 Ti is it? Exact model?
