Solution
Go to your audio properties in windows and look at playback settings. Make sure the proper setting is picked. If you have 2.1/5.1 make sure to pick that. It may be set to headphones somehow. Also check your sound card settings. If you are using onboard audio, look for loudness equalization and enable it. That could also be your issue.

@unknownofprob The logitech x-530/x-540 5.1 speakers are really decent for around $60-80. I know a lot of people that use them and love them. They also get good reviews. Well it's more the x-530's that get good reviews, but they are now replaced by the lesser x-540's. The x-540 still get pretty decent reviews though either way.

Check your sound port if it is loose or dirty. If not, plug the speakers and try to twist the cord until the sound enhances.

I see what you mean, I mean for the price of headphones, you may get a better listening experience then with similarly priced speakers. The best speakers for the price i would say are the Logitech Z623, great setup.
