4 gigs a piece, same timings but the Corsair runs at 1.35v and the GSkill runs at 1.5v. I have them installed into an ASUS H97-Pro motherboard. I've read that they will default to the lower voltage when running. Will there be any compatibility issues or risk of damage to components? I've also read that mixing RAM could be a bad idea but on the other hand I've read that mixing can work with no problems whatsoever.

I'm ignorant on this issue and could use some advice. I surf the web, watch movies and play a few games, nothing is overclocked and will not be overclocked. I don't do any video editing or anything so having 16 gigs isn't really a necessity but I had the two Corsair sticks laying around and figured why not.

*Update*

Just to confirm, my BIOS does show the RAM running at 1600 MHz, voltage is at 1.35v and capacity is 16384 MB.

Solution
Download Mem Test86 and run it to test the stability of your RAM.

You can also use Prime95 if you want to be extra sure that everything is fine.

Also, make sure that Windows is detecting all of that RAM.
