I'm looking to upgrade my GTX 560 Ti to a GTX 680 and I was unsure if my 550w PSU would provide enough power for my computer.
I have looked at a number of websites which has given me a variety of different answers as to how much wattage i would require WITH the GTX 680, the results ranging from 550w being a minimum to 400w being a minimum.

Other information:
CPU - i5-3570k @ 3.4ghz
RAM: DDR3 8gb
1 HDD
1 CD/DVD reader

For a system using a single GeForce GTX 680 graphics card NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 550 Watt or greater system power supply that has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 38 Amps or greater and that has at least two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors or one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors depending on brand and model of the graphics card.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) is the most critical factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) may require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.
