I'm building my first PC, and have some questions about power to the motherboard. My mobo (asus z97) has a slot near the CPU for an EATX12v, 8 pins. My power supply (Silverstone strider plus) did not come with a corresponding chord. One chord has 2 4 pins, and on the power supply is labeled "EPS8pin/ATX4pin". Will it work if I plug one of the 4 pins in, or do I need to go in search of a matching chord?

The spots on the motherboard are:
[]OO[]
O[][]O

The connectors:

OO O[]
OO []O

Alternatively, as the "house" shaped connectors will fit in the squares, and the other 4 pin fits as intended, I actually can plug them both in...I'd just rather have some certainty I won't fry my processor.

I'm way over my head, and my friend in IT who was supposed to help me has completely flaked out. Any advice would be welcome, and thanks for reading.

Cool - follow up question. I am not techy, I apologize if this is a dumb question.

The way it is plugged in now it has a row of black and a row of yellow, as described in your response. Does this mean it should work properly, despite that the shapes are different?

The pictures posted show all I know about my hardware.
