To be honest, I really don't have an opinion. I just remembered the article. Unless someone else chimes in, you would be best advised to draw your own conclusion based upon what you gathered from the read. I'm lazy and just used the thermal pad that came on my Corsair H80i and apparently it is pretty good.
The difference between the pad that came on my cooler and the best non-conductive paste is like 2 degrees if I remember right. At that point you are splitting hairs and treading inside of the realm of variability. Maybe their office was a little cooler or hotter for a certain test. Go with your gut.
The best thermal paste is the one you have on hand - the differences between thermal paste are quite small. Unless, of course, the thermal paste you have is peanut butter or something, which I would not recommend.
One last thing, the application of your paste will make a bigger impact than the type. There are plenty of people on here that put too much or too little paste and then can't figure out why their temps are f***ed up.

There really is no "best" thermal paste. Really any of the good quality stuff like Artic Silver 5, Gelid, or Prolimatech there are many out there I would look at benchmarks. But any of them will work fine. The most important thing is to make sure you don't put to much thermal paste or you can run into overheating problems.

Is the pee method good?
I would highly recommend avoiding urinating on your cooler. While some species use urine to aid in evaporative cooling, the viscosity isn't fitting for this application and you will likely ruin your motherboard and other internal components.
