hi guys, im new here, looks like the place to ask and get a reply tho,, im very computer savvy ( prob not as much as some of you guys here tho lol ), but i came across a pc repair that has stumped me,,,the keyboards will not work, is this a faulty mobo? i have an old intel desktop, i have at this stage tried all of the following,,
1;removed and replaced ram ( incase it was that )
2; done a complete softbuild, now only mobo and fan is plugged in,
3; tried 4 different keyboards in various slots, ps2, all of the usbs available,
4; removed bios battery for 30 mins, no joy,, replaced bios battery, still same,
5;tried all combinations of bios jumpers, normal, recovery and config, still same,
6; it used to just stay on the intel splash screen b4 bios, after fiddling about with all of the above,, i now get just past that to post, its shows the ram all ok, it says
" legacy keyboard........... detected,"
usb legacy............ enabled

auto detecting usb mass storage dev
00 usb mass storage devices found and configured,

floppy controller failed, press f4 to resume,, but i cannot access anything as no keyboards will work either by usb or ps2, any suggestions,, once i get that to work, i can solve anything else,

More about : keyboard working bios

Keyboards will show the illuminated Num Lock if you boot the system. Is your Num Lock illuminated if you boot up your PC?

no, on any of the keyboards, no num lock lights on at all,, i have literally just plugged in a pci 4 usb hub, it came up with keyboard error on all of them, although ive just tried them all in my studio pc, and all works fine there, so im vconfident its not the keyboards,, although now it as skipped past the post screen and tries to boot, but i still need to acces bios to get it to read from cd drive 1st to format the hdd,,

Hi
Only really two things it could be motherboard or PSU.
Possibly 5V USB supply low or not working this would explain keyboard detection but no num lock light.
Have you got a powered USB hub you could try ?
