I need to access files backed up by my Windows 7 Backup Image software, which has been copied to a remote hard disk.. The files that have been copied seem to have dropped off my 'C' hard disk and I need to reinstall them.

If you made the Backup Image using the built-in "Backup & Restore" utility, you need to boot your PC from the "System Repair Disc" which you should have made at the same time. If you didn't make one you can make one now by going in to "Backup & Restore" and clicking "Create System Repair Disc".

Note, you won't be able to access or copy/paste individual files from the Backup Image (ie you won't be able to open it for browsing files within it). You must restore the entire image.

orlbuckeye: You clearly don't understand Acronis True Image. You can "mount" the entire backup to a set of "virtual drives" on any Windows system, and then copy any (or all) files to somewhere else. In ATIH 2014, for example, the command is found on the "Tools & utilities" tab, in the lower-right corner, in the pane titled "Image mounting."
