Hi there,

I am trying to provide a large area (big big house) with wireless internet. I have a BT receiver hooked up to an airport extreme, linked with 2 further airport extremes, 1 airport express & a time capsule. I'm not even close to covering the whole area. Am I wasting my time with trying to link them all together? At what stage should I be looking at installing an Antenna on the roof. The area I am trying to cover has a diameter of about 1500 feet including lots of open spaces.

Thanks for the help!

Hi there,
Every time you link up a airport together ( Not a actual one ;) ) you are sharing the bandwidth of the internet between the two.
Resulting in the internet speeds dramatically dropping.
The best way to get around this would be to use "Bridging".
Its when you have multiple routers working together sharing the same SSID (Broadcasting name), so when you loose connection from one router it will connect to the next.
Try viewing this link on bridging airport extremes: http://gigaom.com/2010/03/03/how-to-setup-an-airport-extreme-in-bridge-mode/ and https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1438309?start=0&tstart=0
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Hope this helps!

I find it hard to believe you can't cover the house with 3 airports. Last install I did was in a concrete house, and needed airports on every floor because of said concrete, all wired together via Ethernet. The other house with 5000sqft size needed only 2 and it has a clean signal to a pool house another 100ft or so away (obviously not full speed at that range anymore but stable for streaming music).

Need some more details on house size/shape/materials.
