Hi
I have a 1gb ddr3 gts450 from MSI. It's starting to struggle with new games even on my 1440x900 monitor. Therefore I started thinking about overclocking it. I tried MSI afterburner but it didn't improve the frame rate. Also changing the voltage seems to allow me to overclock without the computer freezing but framerate stability gets affected and the games aren't smooth even if the fps is around 32 most of the time. Another question I have is about the base clock which is 700mhz in my case while other owners have more.
Which settings should I use?
Thanks.

If this - http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N450GTS_Cyclone_1GD5OC.html - is the card you have then don't overvolt it. Just increase GPU frequency until you get artifacts/freeze/driver shutdown/bsod after that decrease it a little and make sure its stable in the games you play. That card has no vrm cooling and might not handle overvolting well. That said i think that i3 is a little too weak to handle most modern games as they mostly use 4 cores or more. Still you should gain some fps while overclocking just dont expect miracles. The GTS 450 was never very good, only GTX 460 and above were fast cards.

BTW to answer your question i think the 450 is hitting a power limit thats causing your stutters so overvolting will only make it worse...
