I have a dell xps 8300 intel i7-2600 3.4 ghz 16 gigs of ram> I have a 450w psu and a AMD Radeon HD 6450. I currently play games like borderlands 2, tf2, portal 2, as well as a l0ot of steam games. Am I correct in assuming most of my pc is good except the psu and gpu? I was looking to upgrade my computer with the r9 270x or the r9 270. All I want is a card that is well suited for about 3 more years of good gaming. Running games like borderlands and Warframe on high settings. I only have 1 23 inch monitor that I run at 1080p. However, if I want a new gpu I have to upgrade my psu. I was thinking of going with the

PRO XPS-550W-SEW ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply (110 V AC, 220 V AC Input Voltage - 1 Fans - Internal - ATI CrossFire Supported - NVIDIA SLI Supported)
It has 550w which is more then enough to support the r9 cards correct? So I am looking to upgrade my computer and I want to know if upgrading the psu then getting an 29 is a good choice? I have no preference over radeon of NVidia. I tend to value performance over appearance. Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

My current setup has issues running games like tf2 on low settings without some lag.

You should be able to run a GTX750ti on your current psu. That will be a healthy upgrade over 6450.

If you should want more, I suggest upgrading to something in the 650w range so that you will be able to handle any single gpu card. It should not cost much more.

If I do go with the Corsair 600w, whats the best it can support> the 280? How long will that card last me? Im trying to get my gpu to live almost as long as my cpu before becoming obsolete.
