View files in WD passport from a new laptop

I had an old laptop with WD passport. I stored some files in the WD passport. Now, I want to retire the old laptop with new laptop. How can the new laptop view the same files in the WD passport stored from the old laptop?

Have you tried connecting the WD passport to the new laptop? If yes, is the drive recognized by the new computer? If no, are there any warning/error messages that appear when you connect the drive? If you are using a PC then the drive should appear in Windows Explorer or if on a Mac the drive should appear in Finder.
