So I have an i7 2600 yes ik it can't overclock but I can always get a 2600k, so my question is.. should I buy a 3770k or buy a 2600k and overclock it..

or just chill for a few more years before upgrading?

unfortunatly on non-K CPUs you can only overclock the boost clock which isn't really.. significant

and honestly im not sure if I'm seeing any performance problems, BF4 runs fine at 60-80fps maxed, just that the CPU fan is loud partly due to having a stock cooler(working on it). All other games seem to be working fine as-well except for maybe AC4 but that's Ubisofts fault.

I just want to be sure if the upgrade is neccessary at this time before I needlessly go spending money

Well I would say no it's not worth it, until you see problems across multiple games then its time, save the money for something really decent when the time comes. A CPU cooler would be the first thing to do, but as you say, you're already on that.
