Hey guys, I'm going to build a new PC this summer and I was wondering if I should get a NVIDIA GTX 770 or 780, or if possible the 800 series variants of them to play on a resolution of 1680 by 1050. Is the gtx 780 going to be overkill? I want to play next-gen games at at least 50 fps average and I will use the intel core i5 4690k (when it is coming out) with an ssd and 8 gb of RAM just FYI.

Any ideas for if the 780 will be overkill?

Anything above the 770 is overkill for 1080p, so your resolution is even smaller. I would say 770 at most.

I agree with Gam3r01. Anything over a GTX 770 is way overkill for the resolution you're gaming at. I would even consider a GTX 760(a pretty powerful card in it's own right) or if you go ATI/AMD...a Radeon R9 280 would be sufficient.
