hello guys, sorry if the title is a bit long
my spec is:

i5 4440
mobo MSI H87-G43 gaming
GPU MSI GTX 760
Ram 2x4 Corsair
HDD 1TB WD blue WD10EZEX
PSU superflower sf-500p12a

so its been a few months since i installed windows 8, and all going smooth until 2 weeks ago
i shut down my pc, and in the morning my pc wont boot. i forgot the text, if im not mistaken its "please insert boot media" or something like that.
i opened my case, and plug my hdd to another sata port
it worked for a while, until last night. i played video games, and it started to lag. something weird is happening because the game i played saint row 3 and im sure my GPU can handle it. after i quit my game, i can't even refresh. i turned off my pc the hard way, and turned it on again, and the same problem happened, again. i changed to another sata port and and the sata cable also, but the problem still exist.

can you guys help to figure whats wrong with my pc?
yes sometimes i didnt shut down my pc for 1-2 days, is it because of my usage?
or just plainly because i got a faulty hdd?

sorry for bad english, desperately need your help guys
thanks

Hello,

In my experience I would believe your hard drive is failing - when the drive cannot be detected even during initial bootup, usually means hard drive is failing, since you have tried multiple SATA ports and multiple SATA cables. I would recommend acquiring another hard drive (even a used, older, or smaller drive) to test and verify.

Hope this helps

Hello again,

I would not worry about your usage pattern(s), as leaving the PC on for extended periods of time shouldn't be your issue. My computer has ran weeks at a time in the past without powering off, and i have 3 hard drives and 1 SSD running in it (only power it down nightly now to conserve on power bill)
