I'm just trying to understand the point of overscan? Why not just make my screen fit my monitor without having to overscan all the way in the CCC on every AMD card I've owned.

More about : overscan amd make

I wonder why that is. It doesn't affect me. Do you run an odd resolution or something?

1920*1080 on my 21.5" Asus Monitor over HDMI.

If I remember correctly, this became an issue when I switched over to HDMI from DVI.

Most TVs I've seen come set up with overscan on the HDMI ports (at least when connected to a computer), for some stupid reason. I've seen it happen with everything from AMD GPUs to Intel or Nvidia based laptops and even raspberry pis or tablets.

I would upgrade to DVI or Display Port.

I would need a Displayport to HDMI cord then I believe, I don't have an input for it.

This is why you don't use HDMI for a monitor. HDMI is for TVs

HDMI was more convenient, since it has audio and video (that is comparable to DVI)

HDMI and DVI are basically the same thing in a different plug, except HDMI has a couple of extra features.

Does HDMI still charge a fee per connector?

DVI > HDMI honestly

DVI can support dual link, analog and is a more robust connector. I find HDMI can pull out if you move it too much where DVI is as solid as VGA or even more

HDMI was for TVs. Monitor speakers are poor anyway so audio doesn't really gain much
