hey guys,
so ive been playing transistor and a few non sli compatible games and for some apparent reason gpu 1 is not the 1 doing the power pushing. gpu 2 is always the 1 that gets the load while gpu 1 doesnt do anything which is annoying coz gpu 2 gets hotter than gpu1.

im using some old 560 ti in sli, a asus cu2 and a zotac. both under clocked coz of heat issues from the zotac to 1.025mV, 870mhz and 2050 memory clock.

is there a way for me to have my gpu 1 work during these non sli games or is the system just picking gpu 2 since its not the primary? gpu 1 is in 1st slot.

thx

Solution

i would say, get a decent thermal paste, like noctua nt-h1. I like that paste as it has no curing time and in my experience works a little better than AS5 and comparably priced products. Remove the zotac heatsink and fan...

ok ive changed the gpu around and gpu 2 is still the only 1 under load while playing non-sli games. gpu 1 is connected to main monitor and gpu 2 is connected to a smaller side monitor

ok so ive moved around the gpus and tested some crap out. i must say the zotac amp 560ti just loves to reach that 99C range. ive under clocked it as much as i can to 962mV core to 475 and memory at 2050 with max fan and shit hits around 87C anything above the 500mhz would just go 90+. since this card is so old and i wont b able to get any replacements or anything is there anything to help it lower the heat?
my other asus card is fine under 80s with normal clocking...
the cards r both pretty clean and no dust

Remove the zotac heatsink and fan, clean all the old thermal paste off of the gpu and reapply new paste. I bet that will have it running a lot cooler.
