Hello,

I got a display flickering at high processing especially when I open my music sequencer & loading big tracks.

System is: GA-Z87X-D3H, i7 4770k, DDR3 1333 16gb, HD 2tb, Video: PNY Geforce GT 640
PSU is ThermalTake 430W which I replaced earlier... Before that it was Huntkey 600W and I was never noticing any issue in graphics at all...
I tried to modify the OC, updated the video card with latest nVidia driver, but no use.

Could be the PSU issue? Not delivering enough current to the MB? I checked the video card, it doesn't have a 6 pins power plug bcz it is old model.

I would be grateful to hear your opinion and suggestions.
Thanks a lot & have a great time
Sincerely,
Saif

When you're loading big files , or straining the cpu, the rig needs more current, if there is a leak somewhere around there, then the flickering is pretty normal. I would still suggest checking for current leaks in the rig and the peripherals attached to it.

3 feets away.
btw, I tried to exhaust the CPU to do max chore and I didn't get that flickering effect.. It happens only with that music application I use.

I'm pretty sure it is not the HDD, it is between GPU, CPU & PSU. How can I find the leakage? change the cables? replace the PSU? Maybe bcz it is 430W? not enough power?

Firstly use a Tester to see which parts not properly grounded, the case, the PSU (just touch one of the screws holding the PSU to the case), the Audio peripherals that you've connected, the Monitor Base, or back plate.... etc etc

If 430W was not enough you'd have had a reboot immediately.

Thanks Alyoshka I will give it a go in morning, will post a feedback after.. Thanks once again :) Have a good time
.........
Unfortunately, did the test to see if there's a leakage, replaced the DVD with HDD power cable, tested and same flickering issue :(
.........
Well, I cheated, did a new refresh rate of 75hz and now the flickering are way much less... But that really weird thing! Why would high CPU power reduces the refresh rate?
