Which socket is most worth investing in (intel)

LGA 1155 is dead. 1150 is getting new CPU refresh soon, but soon to "die". The next generation of LGA 2011 wont fit in the same motherboards.
DDR4 is at the door. That is a major change (RAM type changes once every... 7-8 years?) so I don't see any point in investing anything in any of the current sockets.

But i cannot wait for the new socket to arrive with intention it will last for long because you never know what can happen. Which is the best current socket to invest in? I was thinking LGA1150 to take i5 4440 and then be able to upgrade to i5 4670k and after a few years when it becomes cheaper i7 4770k
