Hi guys,
Im having trouble deciding on the parts for my first cad workstation build and I would like to know everyones thoughts. This is what I have so far
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($269.99 @ Micro Center)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($59.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK2 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($179.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($144.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($139.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.23 @ OutletPC)
Case: Corsair 500R White ATX Mid Tower Case ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($54.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $999.16
I also want to use the quadro k600 which is about $200 , bringing my total to about $1200. I am happy to stay around this price as I am in australia and everything here is more expensive (on that note if anyone can recommend a good place to buy this stuff in aus that would be great thanks), although I will go up to about $1400.
The graphics card is one of the things giving me the most grief, as the there are not many reviews on the k600s and the next model up in the series is significantly more expensive. So any thoughts on that would be great.
Also there are minimal reviews on the new z97 chipset for motherboards, so I am yet to decide on the motherboard I use, so if anyone has any suggestions on that, that would be great too.
The rig will be soley used for cad and everyday stuff like word processing, I dont game.
Any feedback would be great as I am very unsure about the right set up for 3d cad.
Cheers
