GTX 750Ti, draws next to no power (works off a cheap 280W PSU), has very good performance from the power it consumes.

Technically, nvidias gtx750ti narrowly fits the bill (does not need a dedicated power cable). You certainly could not install anything more powerfull. But you need to check:
- the card phisically fits your case (some cases do not accept cards with full width or double slot cards)
- your CPU and the rest of your system are not too energy hungry (if your processor is an overclocked qx9770 and is already claiming more than 150W, I would not take risks)
- You PSU is of decent quality (does it at least have 80+ certification? How much voltage on the single +12V rail?...)

I just installed an HD 5570.

It didn't work. Is the problem on the PSU or in the motherboard?

And you plan to upgrade from the internal chipset video card to a pci-express one, right? This is not to replace a broken graphics card?

And you have checked in your bios settings before connecting the 5570 if there is anything about activating internal chipset/activating pci-express 16 or something of that kind?

Not yet. What should I do once I open the BIOS settings?

There was nothing like that on my BIOS Settings. I only saw PCI/PEG something like that

Yes that might exactly be it. Did you even google what PCI/PEG meant?

Actually, fishermand 46 got the same problem as you, and I typed your chipset type and PCI/PEG in google and found the link:

So try changing to: PEG/IGD

In my BIOS, there are only two choices. PCI/PEG and PEG/PCI
