Hi,

I am trying to make my first gaming pc. I have a decent idea of what I need to do but not completely. I would like to play newer games (Dayz, Arma 2) at a decent setting.
:
This is the build I am currently thinking of getting:

-Rosewill Ranger Tower Case
-WD Caviar Blue 500 GB
-Corsair CX 430
-Kingston HyperX blu (either 4 or 8 GB)
-AMD A10-5800K APU 3.8Ghz Processor (This is what I am mainly needing help with)
-What is a good mobo for this processor? (on the inexpensive side)

Also, Is it difficult to make a pc(this is my first time)? Do I need a lot of previous experience to do this?

Thank You

What is your total budget for the pc?

I am on a really tight budget ($300). I am on that budget for now but I will be upgrading as I save up.

I would recommend that you save up a bit more before getting the pc started. Mainly because the A10 processors are on the FM 2 socket which does not have an upgrade path and will hold you back in the future if you plan on getting a graphics card for gaming. Especially if you will need a copy of windows ($100).

Lets see.

Seems like a ok build, but could use some help. Like the case isn't really a good brand.

The build I have put together is more up to date, and has a lot of room for upgrades in the future.
Intel Build

Why I go with Intel, is because they have room for upgrades. Like lets say you have a AMD 4 core. You are maybe wanting to upgrade, so you go and buy a 8 core AMD CPU. You plug it in, and get some games running, then realize that you are only getting like a 5-10 fps boost. With Intel, all the processors are well built, and aren't like false advertising (like AMD).

Yes, this build does only have a dual core, but that Intel dual core is going to almost play as well as a AMD 4 core. or 6 core. And it leaves room for upgrading to maybe a quad core in the future.

Here is how powerful the build will be.

Its not that hard at all to make a build a PC. You just have to be careful and follow what YouTube says.

I'll be coming back with a AMD build a few mins.

Is there a better processor in the $90 to the $130 range that has a path for a graphics card, because that is something I definitely plan on doing? I do have a copy of windows 7 on hand.

Thanks

Thanks Snake GTX but I dont have a budget of 450. I can go up to 300 and then upgrade slowly. Would AMD be a cheaper build?
Also would it be able to run games like Dayz Standalone?\

Thanks

An AMD build would be cheaper after about $450, but since this is a $300 build, the Intel is cheaper (and leaves room for upgrades in the future).

Intel

AMD

Yes, this could probably run Dayz on the lowest setting with like 20-30 fps ($300 isn't much to work with).

What if in my first build I switched the AMD processor for an intel i3? Then it would be under $300?

Change the 5800k to an i3 4130. The prices of the two are pretty close. Less than $10 difference between the two. Pair it with a cheap MSI H81M-P33 to get you started.

With the i3 4130, I dont need a Video Card? Or I could add one later?

You will be able to add one later. The i3 4130 has integrated graphics. I recommend getting one as soon as you are able. A gtx 750ti would be a good fit for your system.

ok thanks, so for the i3 41430 I could play Dayz? Or is the integrated graphics not powerful enough

The integrated graphics are pretty bad. They will not be able t play DayZ. Maybe minecraft on low.

Ok, So i took your advice about the mobo and I am going to use intel i3. Is there a relatively cheap graphic/vid card that could be used to play dayz and is compatible with the intel i3

Thanks

Pretty much any card under a HD 7870 will work. You can use this chart to find graphics cards. So find the 7870, and any card below that should work fine with the i3. I'll be back in a sec with the graphics cards I found.

XFX Radeon HD 6670
DayZ
$70

PNY GeForce GT 640
DayZ
$77

The first one you have listed sounds good. Has good reviews and if I do the rebate it is $55! Will this one be compatible with the intel i3?

Pretty much, all CPUs and GPUs are all compatible. Its just when the CPU bottlenecks the GPU. The i3 isn't going to bottleneck the HD 6670 any. It should be fine.

You actually might get by with just the integrated graphics. Here's the integrated graphics playing BF4!

So This Is the Comp:

-MSI Computer Corp. Micro ATX DDR3 1600 LGA 1150 Motherboards H81M-P33 V2
-Sentey Case Micro ATX
-WD Blue 2 GB
-Intel i3 4130
-XFX ATI Radeon HD6670 1 GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card HD667XZHF3
-2GB RAM and will later buy a 8GB

Would this all be compatible and good enough for gaming?

Thanks

This is what I think you should do.
Get a system like this.

I think you can manage on the integrated graphics until you can save a little more money for a dedicated GPU.

This integrated graphics seems powerful enough to play DayZ fine on low.
Here is the older HD 4000 integrated graphics playing DayZ.
Here is the integrated HD 4000 vs the integrated that is in the 4130.

Oh wow
So if I got an i3 it would be able to run Dayz on low as well as shown in the video?
If So, I will definitely do that.
Also is a power supply necessary? Doesn't the case come with one?

Thanks

The case usually doesn't come with one. So that's why it would be good to get one lol (can't run the system without it).

Really the only good manufactures of cases are Cooler Master, Corsair, Gigabyte, Fractal Design, and NZXT.

Any other cases that come with power supplies are junk. They will like blow up in your face, before you can even start the computer.

Don't go for a Case+PSU combo, the psu is one of the most important components of your build (your pc won't do much without power). Many junk psus do not output the stated power. The case you linked says it is a 450w but provides 250w constant (red flag!!!) this means it is a 250w power supply (if even that). While you could use this temporarily without a graphics card, a 250w power supply will not power any decent graphics card and I would not trust my hardware or money on this PSU.

So ill get a evga power supply 430 Watts

-Intel Core i3
-MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
-Kingston HyperX FURY 4GB
-Western Digital Caviar Blue 320GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
-Case
-EVGA 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply

How long does it take to assemble. I am a complete noob at this. I'm good with pc's but have never built one.

You should probably leave 1-2 hours to build it. Especially a first build.
