I have a https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H81MA/ mobo and am trying to connect my http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/ssd/ct240m500ssd1 to it.

It does not show up in UEFI BIOS at all. I have tried:

Enabling all SATA ports in BIOS
Resetting to default BIOS (just in case)
connecting the sata to all 4 ports(in case one is bad)

Nothing is working, I have no way of knowing if this is a faulty drive or not. Also, I do not have anything else to connect to a SATA port to make sure the ports work.

I am a bit stuck because my OS cannot be installed until the SSD shows up.

PS. This is my second build, but my first time dealing with the new UEFI BIOS.

Hello man

Seems like you are in a pickle. Find a SUPER CHEAP drive on the net, buy it and use it as secondary drive. If it is recognized, then the SSD is at fault. If not, it is the MOBO, and you should return it.
