Hi,

Recently I decided to get a new graphics card to my computer since it was fps dropping and couldn't handle the recently released games. Not did I only have to buy new a graphics card but also a power supplier since my current power supplier wouldn't work with the new graphics card.

And what I finally decided to buy:

Graphics card – ASUS GeForce® GTX 760 DC Mini
https://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/GTX760DCMOC2GD5/ (For more information)

Power supplier – RM Series™ RM550 — 550 Watt 80 PLUS® Gold Certified Fully Modular PSU
http://www.corsair.com/en-us/rm-series-rm550-80-plus-gold-certified-power-supply (For more information)

So when I finally got the graphics card and the PSU and had installed both components in my computer it wouldn't boot for some strange reason. Still I haven't been able to fix this problem and whenever I try to boot the computer with the new components it will get stuck on this screen. (Link below).

As you can clearly see it says "Press the ESC key for Startup Menu". And whenever I do press the ESC key nothing will happen, it will just get stuck on this screen and nothing more happens. I have also tried to spam F10 before the screen came up to bring up the Startup Menu, but it didn't work.
I then tried to update my BIOS from v.7.14 to v.7.15. Unfortunately, no success.

System Information:

Operating system: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
System manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
System model: p7-1072sc
BIOS: Ver: CHI_715.ROM vCHI7.15

Any comments would really cheer me up and I really need fast answers because I only have 7 days left to be able to return the components if I don't want them and want to get my money back.

Thank you so much for the comments and help in advance!

some models of store bought computers [dell.hp,acer,ect..] may come with a ''locked'' bios and may not allow you to change certin hardware as a video card.. this is done to protect them from undue warrenty claims and refunds .this is not done to hurt you but to protect them. you realy need to see if that upgrade has been proven to work in your model first before you invest money in it .. there are a lot of these threads here at toms to look at some models will allow upgrades and some dont.. and a lot of guys here say ya ya ya when is really no no no...it would be sad you spent $200 on a card that wount post after you installed it as most find out.then get told its your psu and you spend more and end up right back where you are now, but its up to you good luck..

you got to know the the boards in these computers are not like the ones we use to do costom builds witch are open to upgrading with in the boards compatiblty . the bios is costom made for there designe and just for the parts they authorise to be used on ther computers

maybe you can get with this guy and put your heads together on upgradeing a hp... good luck

you mite can in some way... but that guy I sent you the link to we tried but he just came to the conclusion that its not going to work after all our efforts ... all you can do is what you can and hope for the best them computer company's got it all figured out .. they want to sell you a computer not upgrade.. good luck

Might pull the 760 and then go look in BIOS and see if there is an option for graphics, primary graphics something of that sort, if so it's probably set to ON_BOARD and should have an option for PCI-E, PEG or something like that, select it, save, exit, shutdown and then install the card and try with the 760

I tried to find any options as instructed me to do in the BIOS, but I couldn't find none of those options. However, I did change something (not sure what), and when I try to boot the computer with the new graphics card now I don't get that blue screen anymore. Instead I get a black screen with an underscore in the upper left corner. What could this be?
