I'm looking for a good CPU to run with my GTX 650. It is a non-TI edition, 1GB memory. The 2 main processors I have been decided on are the i3-4130, or the FX-6300. I have also considered the i3-3220, the i3-3240, or the i3-4150. Keep in mind that I will be using it for gaming, at 1360x768 and 8GB RAM.

Solution
The 6300 is the way to go if you are battling the i3, especially if you ever overclock. It also will not bottleneck you if you ever want to upgrade to some nice GPU's.

It will outperform the i3 in just about everything besides heavily single threaded applications.

The difference between them is not great.

One thing to keep in mind, is what you can upgrade to. With the Intel i3, you can upgrade to an i7 (beats every AMD CPU) with the same motherboard. With the 6300, you can upgrade to the 8350 (or 9590, which is just a heavily overclocked AMD FX-8350), which equals an i5 in most cases.

Admirable
Go with the FX-6300, as it will give you better over all performance, not just in games,as the only place the i3 beats the FX-6300 is in single core uses. Also I believe the FX processor is also a bit cheaper than the i3. Also, if you are willing to do so, you will be able to overclock the FX-6300 by a much larger amount than the i3.

I would go with the i3-4130.
It might not give you a major performance advantage over the 6300, but considering the socket the 6300 runs on has been discontinued by AMD, the upgradability chance is slim to none.

The i3 on the other hand is on socket LGA1150, which is still widely used today, even new CPU's being released today are using the 1150 socket.

What do you mean by it is discontinued? AMD hasn't discontinued the FX line up and its socket (AM3+). It will be around until Steamroller which will be a while.

Anyways, the 6300 will beat the i3 in gaming and pretty much most of everything else besides heavily single threaded tasks.
