Hey guys I just need some clarification stock is 3.5ghz I changed it to 3.7ghz to test the bios settings.

I have amd turbo boost, cool and quiet and all these settings disabled.
ram is set at 1600mhz at 1.65v
cpu/nb frequency is set to 2200mhz
ht link speed is set to 2600mhz
vddnb is set to 1.25v
LLC is set to 75%
cpu voltage I got it set to 1.35v, figured it be a good base to start overclocking at.

Cpu z shows cpu voltage at 1.32v which is fine but then when I run prime small fft test the voltage drops to 1.2v even 1.18v which seems like a huge drop to me and my multiplier also fluctuates between 18.5 and 14.5 or something along those lines. It drops from 3.7ghz to 2.9ghz for a sec and it goes back and forth.

My cpu max temp under load hits 37c

I am pretty sure I have all the safety features that would throttle or try and control my voltage/multiplier turned off in bios unless I am missing something, I dont understand why this is happening. Any ideas ?

My mobo is asus m5a78l-m lx plus I know this mobo is a pos and if i cant work with it I will buy a diff one. I had this mobo laying around so I used it for this build.

Yeah figured, I didnt overclock started to look for mobos actually lol. Here is what I came up with now I have to decide which one to go for.

ASRock 990FX Extreme9

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3

ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0

ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z

Hard choices, Im leaning more toward the asrock extreme 9, or the asus crosshair V. What do you guys think?

It does not really matter, although ASUS mobos have better overclocking but ASRock has more control over it.
