The main idea is to get the hot air out of the case asap. Either method will work.
Orienting the cooler to exhaust to the rear is probably better. The cool intake air will come in from the front. Going on straight back to the exit is easiest and straightest.
Otherwise the air flow must be turned 90 degrees to exit upward.

All right. Well I am getting ZALMAN Z9 Plus and it does have a fan cut out for the bottom. But since my computer is going to be sitting on carpet and the legs only raise it about an inch, I will probably mount the cooler to exhaust to the rear of the case since it will have better airflow. Thanks for the helpful reply! :D
