Write protection w/ Find and Mount

I just installed a 3rd hard drive in my computer, and I've got a bit of a strange problem. Previously, I had 2 hard drives installed, a main and a slave, with the slave housing all my music/videos/documents, the main being used for programs and the like. The third hard drive seems to be working just fine, but the 2nd hard drive with all my libraries is now having issues.

Specifically, my computer isn't detecting any formating on it. That's the best way I can word it, as I don't actually know what's wrong. Whenever I try to open it or any of my libraries, it says the hard drive needs to be formatted before it can be used. I can mount the hard drive using Find and Mount. However, when I try to copy the files from the 2nd hard drive to either the 1st or 3rd so i can reformat the 2nd HDD, it won't let me, as it says the media is write protected.

Some of the files won't open as well, giving me the same error. I've tried:
-Right clicking the mounted drive and unclicking the "read only" box, gives the error of write protection
-assigning myself full control of the mounted drive, as currently "users" only have Read & Execute, list folder contents, and read as allowed. Would not let me assign full control to users
-Running cmd.exe as an admin and using DISKPART to remove the read only attribute. The mounted drive does not show up under "List disk", though the actual drive does. It shows the disk online, and attempting "repair" and "recover" did not do anything
-assigning the drive a different header -- still says it needs to be formatted

I need either a way to remove the write protection from the mounted drive in order to copy all the data and reformat it, or a way to force windows to recognize that it has been formatted before.

Solution
Try taking ownership of the affected folders. I'm not sure if this works for win8/8.1

I've checked, and yes, I can save to the 3rd drive. After going through the second drive more item by item, I've found that I can transfer /some/ of the data to the other 2 drives, but most of it can't be transferred because of write protection. Nothing from the music library or video library can be transferred, and I was only able to move about a quarter of the documents over. None of which are things that I need to save (Of course none of it is important -- what was I thinking, expecting it to be any other way?!)

These restrictions to what I can and cannot move/copy to other hard drives is the same if I try and transfer the data from the 2nd drive to either the 1st drive, or the 3rd drive.
