System Build:
OS: WIN7
Mobo: Asus M5A97 R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-8350 (8 Core 4.0ghz)
GPU: Nvidia GTX780 Classified ATX Coolers (Yes I have the latest drivers)
SSD: PNY 120gb SATA 6gb/s
HDD: WD (I forgot the model) 2tb
PSU: Corsair CX750

When I play minecraft, I get about 300fps (Average) but when I record, it won't go past 40fps.
- Im Guessing its the SSD Bottlenecking the GPU. Any Ideas?

Solution
It's been a while since I played Minecraft, but as of last I played, it was more CPU dependent, almost completely so. I assume at 300 FPS you're using the multicore add-on/mod, but coupled with the recording, that would be my bet as to the drop. See if you can OC your CPU a little further and get an FPS increase. If so, there's your answer, if not, then I'm out of the loop =x

Are you talking about Optifine? If so, then yes. But that is the only mod I am using. Do you think taking off optifine will help?

Edit -Uninstalled Optifine, No Difference.

Optifine allows Minecraft to take advantage of the CPU's multicore architecture. My concern is that the CPU might not be able to keep up with both tasks since Minecraft (again, I think) is so much more CPU dependent. My recommendation to attempt and OC (further?) the CPU would give it more power and perhaps reveal an FPS increase and point towards a CPU bottleneck.

What would you recommend OC'ing it to? (It gets really hot here, and I don't have liquid cooling) 4.5, maybe less?

At most yes. An OC would hopefully reveal whether or not the CPU is your bottleneck. If a 4.3 or 4.5 OC yields improved FPS while recording, then we can safely say that your CPU can't handle the combined load and still give you 60 FPS. Then it's a matter of figuring out the best course of action.

Now that I think of it, my CPU usage is only around 30% when I am playing minecraft and recording, So maybe it isn't the CPU?

I've tried recording to both, neither makes a difference. I have 1 120gb ssd bood, and 1 2tb storage.
