Should I wait? Is GTX 780Ti SLI good/worth it?

Hey, everyone. I'm upgrading from a GTX 690, and I was hoping to figure out if it'd be wise to wait for newer GPUs, or if I should buy the 780Ti SLI package. What are your views on Titan Blacks, also?

Thanks!

This is correct, you should be able to max anything out at 1080p but I always have an up-to-date computer build because I always sell my hardware while it's no more than one generation old. I've always got the best stuff in my computer and it either doesn't cost me anything or I make...

Unless you really need it I would save your money and just get one, ther performance increase from 1 to 2 isn't really worth it unless you absolutely need it. Besides unless you have 4K screens there is really no point in getting anything above a 780 anyway

Is your 690 not cutting it?
If its still running what you want to there is no reason to replace it. Font fix what aint broken.
The 780Ti SLI would be extremely powerful, but outside of 4K/Nvidia Surround there is no need. Titan Blacks are more for professional/high resolution work, just a 780Ti 6GB essentially.

Really nice insight, thank you. That's exactly what I was thinking about selling the 690 for a decent price. You guys both bring up good points... 780Ti SLI would blow my card out of the water, right? Do you think it's worth the price?

So, the extra vram of the Titan black isn't worth it if I don't plan on playing at a very hi res?

Titan lack is for people doing 3d rendering work n stuff not for gaming :S Definitely don't get 2 780ti's thats like wanting to kill a sheep and dropping 100 nukes on it, complete overkill. I would advise you to just wait or if you really must get something 1 780 would be fine

edit: wait I just read this right, you have a 690 not a 580, need to learn how to read again. Ok why the (restrained expletives) would you need to upgrade from a 690 at this point in time, that card is still pretty insane.

I was hoping to seek an answer to this as I'm sure you guys know: my 690 will choke on many newer games when they're 100% maxed out at 1080p. For example: Watch Dogs, Arma, Batman Arkham Asylum, Far Cry 3, Splinter Cell Blacklist, and even CoD: Ghosts. Would you say that's normal?

More importantly, could I get excellent 60+FPS maxed out performance with 780Ti SLI on those games?

Really? For example, when I play Arkham City (not Asylum, my bad), I'll drop to 45 FPS under certain conditions. Are you seriously telling me that a 770 would tear through a complete city overview on top of a building maxed out in Arkham City? Even Far Cry 3 with maxed out AA?

It does take some shopping around and sometimes buying used parts but when you buy used 780 Ti's or other current hardware, you know they aren't very old.
