Okay so in my new pc I am reusing a hard drive. I was told I need to reinstall windows. So I put the reinstall disk in and a few minutes into the setup I get a blue screen. Help!!!

when the installer starts you have to go into advance mode from booting off the cd or usb stick and remove the partion info on your hard drive (system and data). then reboot an let windows make a new partion. if your running a new amd mb you have to do one more step. yu have to download the newest amd chipset drivers and hit f6 and install the amd chipset drivers.

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen restart your computer if this screen appears again follow these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run chkdsk /f to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer.

This error seems to correlate to windows xp related problems, is this the operating system you are trying to install? Anyhow, it seems you will need to press F6 during installation so that you can load your SATA drivers for your hard drive. You should be able to obtain these through your motherboard's manufacturer website. Best of luck to ya - Sub

*Edit*
Press 's' after that screen

heehe no...boot from windows cd hit f6...then when you get the message to hit s. pull the windows installer cd from your drive and install the mb driver cd. then hit s. if the drivers are uncompressed into a driver folder then windows will read there inf info and come up with a long list. highlight everything from sound to the chipset drivers that pops up after you hit s. if the drivers are all exe files like the link I posted you have to download them and then reun the exe to expaand them then copy them to a usb stick.

When I put the mb disk in and hit s it says "set up could not find it floppy drive on your machine to load OEM drivers from floppy disk."
Press ESC to cancel loading OEM drivers

Press F3 to quit set up

hiiting s should make windows xp seach for inf files. look at the mb cd under the driver folder if there not inf files but exe the installer wont see them. copy the expanded chipset drivers i linked to to a usb stick. plug the usb stick in before windows installer starts. it should see the usb stick. (if it in the usb 2.0 ports). if not you may have to make a new iso windows disk and slipstream the new drivers into the installer.
