Hi, I can't get my Dell Inspiron n5010 with Windows 7 to start correctly. It started when my computer kept freezing and giving me different error codes and I got blue screens. I have been trying to do my windows update and I finally just did them manually and on the last batch of updates, the computer stopped working. I can start up windows, I just get the logo until a blue screen comes and shuts it off. It Tells me to do repairs but when I go to the screen my operating system does not appear and when I do the system repair, it says it cannot automatically fix it. I can't restore because it does not show up. Any ideas? I am worried the hard drive is dead. Also, I may be doing it wrong but I cannot do a safe boot, the screen does not come up

I also get an error message 0x400110020000100C. When trying to restore.

From my experience, when my HD went out on me, I didn't exactly get any error messages. I got one or two, saying it couldn't read the drive, and after that... It was dead. A HD is a pretty basic piece of hardware that doesn't generally come equipt with failsafe hardware built in (Can't speak for the new SSD drives). The errors you are describing are memory sector errors. As the computer precaches the windows OS into memory, its hitting a sector that can not be read/written to. I hope that helps. If you do get lucky and get the computer to boot up, search around for a memory checker.
