Is my CPU dead?

Please help … Pulled out nearly all of my hair …..

I have a i7 920 never oc'd with a Foxconne fireblade gti which has been working fine for a couple of years then all of a sudden it went in a coma , no bios, no signel, just all fans working and 3 leds on board light up blue, red, yellow but strangely, the onboard debug 2 digitial led displays showing boot status codes do not light up or display.

So I feared a power spike, as around that time, a electricity surge happened and part of the village, shops and school were all without power for a good few hours after that power spike.

I tested it with and without the Radeon video 6970 card but no difference.

I tried all combo's of ram, CPU fans, nothing, then I changed the PSU for a new Corsair but still nothing, I took a deep breath, waved goodbye to £110 and bought another brand new Foxconne Fireblade GTI, aaarrrhh.. still nothing ...this new mobo was showing the same signs as my old trusty one.
So I took CPU off, clean and replenished with fresh paste and double checked mounting etc...guess what? Nothing aaaarrrhhhh

Now I'm way out of depth, I need serious help, I have tested:
Motherboard...no, GPU...no, Ram...no, PSU...no, cmos jumper..no,

it can't be the CPU... can it? That's only a 1 in 1000 chance so what do I do ? PLEASE HELP ME

Solution
5th generation CPU's are coming soon. You can return the parts if it didn't work for you, some sites are lenient towards issues like these (trial and error of parts)
You can find a computer repair shop to have them test a different CPU in it. If the CPU indeed threw in the towel, then you will need to replace it. If you're lucky, you might find a used i7-950 or something like that online for a low price. Or you can upgrade to a 4770k and z87/z97 board.

Hi unknownofprob
Many thanks for your reply, Yes you are right, I could have saved myself over £150 had I posted my problem much earlier on this forum
That saving of time and money could have gone a long way towards upgrading to a new 3rd or 4th gen system...gutted!
Many thanks for your reply.
