Huh? More info needed.

Using Y cables is generally a bad idea, as you get voltage loss in the extra set of joints, plus insufficient cables for the GPU usually means that the PSU isn't powerful enough.

the biggest issue is under max load for a gpu can the one set of power cables handle the amps load without melting.

I don't think i typed that correct. I was pretty sure that it is OK to use the either one. Why would some brands not even send a Single 6+2 connector and just send the 6+2 pin(x2) connector

Oh. You mean two plugs on one PSU cable. I thought you meant aftermarket double adapters.

No problem; they will have made sure the cable is thick enough to handle the current.

Oh yeah..Not an issue with the cables/connectors. I have been sitting on a Corsiar AX760 for about 2 months now. Finally got my Case and I am taking sweet old time putting everything in. Right now I am using a CX750M and I think There is a few cables missing from it. I am using the PCI-E 6+2 pin(x2) cable with my GPU no issues with that.. The AX760 PCI-E 6+2 is as thick as the 6+2(x2)..My thoughts are More cable is more power...in any thing really. gaming mouse cable, Dual Link DVI Cable...i don't know, seems right

Fatter usually means more shielding, though it depends what the cable is.

The wires in computers tend to be somewhat overspecced compared to what they could be. You'll be fine.

I always use a single cable from the PSU.

If you're expecting a heavy current draw by the graphics card then using two individual power cables is preferred because the voltage drop at the graphics card's PCI-E connectors will be halved.
