r7 260x on 400w PSU

Hey community,

Just wondering if I could run a r7260x with this setup?
I know its not reccomended on a 400w however the system as a whole is fairly energy efficient.

My setup:

i3 3220
4gb ram
1tb hdd
400w RS-430-PCAR PSU
Asus DRW-24B5ST

Needs 450 watts of system power and 19 Amps on the 12 V rail. 400 watts is not enough.

Look for sales and promos at Newegg, Amazon, local stores, etc. - Some Memorial Day sales are still going on and the fourth of July is not far away.

Sometimes a higher wattage PSU will be on sale cheaper than the lower wattage one.

No. Your psu has dual rails on the 12v

+3.3V@30A,+5V@28A,+12V1@14A,
+12V2@15A,-12V@0.8A,+5VSB@2.0A

So basically you has 12 x 14 = 168w or 12 x 15 = 180w.

A 2gb r7 260x can draw as high as 200w.
