Hey guys,
I have a simple question. I have an Asus H87I-PLUS and want to get a Haswell Refresh CPU. On the Asus site, there seems to be a BIOS Update/Updater specifically for the new HR CPUs. Now my question is, can I update my BIOS without having a CPU? The reason I would not want to get the CPU first is because I am not 100% sure it would work.
And I sort of feel behind with having a motherboard that is not the newest one. should I resell this one and get the new H97I-PLUS? I got this one for $85.
Thanks!

Compatible BIOS for Haswell Refresh CPUs was released in January 2014. Your motherboard should have a thin white sticker on it with the serial number. The last four numbers on the sticker indicate the BIOS version the board shipped with.

You can also contact Asus to have them update the BIOS for you if you want to ship the board to them.
